LG Launches Entry-level Mobile Phone

LG Electronics India has launched a new entry-level phone – the LG KP106B.


This candy bar phone features a 1.5-inch LCD screen and 65k display with a 128x128 pixel resolution. It measures 123x115x64 mm, weighs 63 gms and comes in glossy black with a 4 way metallic navigation key, 16 polyphonic ringtone.
and one touch FM key.

The phone supports both English and Hindi keypads and has embedded in it LG's anti-theft mobile tracker, through which one can track their stolen mobile

The LG KP106B has a built-in handsfree and features FM (on speakerphone as well), world clock, multiple alarm, calculator, stopwatch, unit converter and allows storage of up to 300 phone numbers and 100 SMS messages.

Anil Arora, Business Group Head, GSM, PCs and DAV LGEIL said, "By introducing this new basic phone in the market, we intend to cater to the needs of our entry level consumers who are looking for a handset which has a perfect blend of looks, features and brand name. The KP106B has a great battery life and hence an exceptionally superior phone in its segment and we are very positive that it will delight our customers."

The LG KP106B is available in the market for Rs. 2000.

Samsung TouchWiz Launched in India

Samsung Telecommunications India (STI), has announced the launch of its full touch screen, ultra-slim lifestyle segment mobile – the Samsung TouchWiz (F480)- in the Indian market.


The TouchWiz is being launched to coincide with the Olympic Games 2008.

Dutt, Country Head, Samsung Telecommunications India, said, "Given the growing consumer interest in touch screen phones , the Samsung TouchWiz offers a brilliant full touch navigation experience; widgets with 'Drag and Drop' and User Interface with Haptic Feedback which makes the experience of using the phone highly interactive and easy."

The TouchWiz has 'drag and drop' technology, which allows widgets to be selected from the left panel of the screen and dropped anywhere on the home screen. Since the Widgets comprise widely used applications like clock, calendar, alarms, music player, FM, games and profiles, this equips the user to set hotkeys on the touch menu for all these functions as they please. Haptic feedback offers a tangible feedback when a user makes a selection on the touch screen.

The phone encased in a metal body with a leather cover, features a 2.8-inch TFT LCD display and has a 5.0 Megapixel camera with face detection, image stabilizer, auto focus, CMOS video lens and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR). It also includes the 'Auto Smile Shot' feature - making its worldwide debut - that enables the camera to detect when a person is smiling and automatically take a picture when in the 'Smile shot' mode.

The Samsung TouchWiz is equipped with 240MB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 8GB via the microSD memory card slot. It is compatible with GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSDPA (7.2mbps) functions on GSM 900/1800/1900, and WCDMA 2100 bands.

The Samsung TouchWiz costs Rs. 20,990.

Lenovo Enters Netbook Market With IdeaPad S9, S10

Lenovo has entered the netbook market with the IdeaPad S9 and S10 netbooks.


The netbooks are approximately one inch thin and weigh just over two pounds.

The S9 has an 8.9-inch screen while the S10 has a 10.2-inch screen. Both models come in glossy deep blue, ruby red and classic black. Lenovo has designed the keyboard to be 85 percent the size of a full-function notebook PC's keyboard, and an energy-efficient LED backlit display helps provide longer battery life than traditional displays.


The netbooks feature Wi-fi and optional Bluetooth connectivity and also have an Express Card slot so users can enable the netbook for optional high speed mobile broadband connectivity. The netbooks feature a built-in web camera, two USB ports, a 4-in-1 multicard reader and come equipped with either Microsoft Windows XP

The IdeaPad netbooks offer up to 1 GB of memory and either 80 GB or 160 GB hard disk drive space.


Lenovo has engineered the netbooks to reduce the heat emitted on key contact areas such as the bottom of the PC, the palm rest and the keyboard.

Additionally, Lenovo's OneKey Rescue System on Microsoft Windows-based netbooks helps users the touch of a button should a system error or virus occur.

The IdeaPad netbooks will be available in September in India at all Lenovo authorized storefronts, for approximately Rs. 15, 000 for the S9 and Rs. 17,000 for the S10.
